HomeWelcome To The Northwest 21 Sailboats' SiteJan 24, 2009
Most people have never heard of a Northwest 21 Sailboat which was created and built in Gorst, Washington by Northwest Yacht Constructors specifically for the environment of the Puget Sound. The NW 21 is a wonderful sailboat sporting a look found nowhere else (140+ were built). If you own a Northwest 21, have owned a Northwest 21, or are interested in the Northwest 21 Sailboat, then drop the hook and stay awhile.

We are on Facebook too under Northwest 21 Sailboats

Is there someone out there who can tell me what model Dutton Lainison winch was used for the centerboard. Thanks, Gene (sprega@comcast.net)

Hey, Gene! Welcome - (although we may be the only ones here for a while) I just bought a blue NW21 today that I'd been mulling over for a month. - your month/year is your last 4 digits (i.e. #####0279 is February 1979, and the hull number should be the ones before the date. Mine's hull 97 and it's a '79 model. I'm gonna keep checking back on the site and uploading photos as I go...but if you'd like to send me an email directly, I'm WTucker999@gmail.com. We live in Hubbard, OR - about 30 miles south of Portland and bought the boat from a fellow in Scappoose, WA.

Hi, I just purchased ,yesterday, a 1975 nw21. For the most part it is in fairly good condition. It was damaged at the center board pivot at some point and repaired. I am a bit leery of the repair. Can anyone tell me what hull number I have if I post the vin. I think it must be one of the first built. Not sure though. I will post more info as I learn how to find my way around on this sight. Happy to find you guys... Gene (sprega)

Hello to any intrepid Google-clickers that have found this site! Good luck in finding much info about these fine little vessels - evidently, they made about 150 of them. I've laid eyes on 2, so far. One is a friend's yellow swing keel and the other is hull 97, cocooned in a barn way out in the "sticks". I'm thinking seriously of buying the barn find - will post pics on the site and stay in touch if I do.
From what I've been able to find out, they're a decent design with a bit above-average construction. Good luck in your "voyages" and drop by from time to time!

Tim Barnett here. 1220 W. California Rd. Shelton,Wa.98584 I bought a NW 21 that was in an accident with a car while on the trailer. there is lots of damage, but I think that I can most definately fix it. I'd like to get information on the company and about the boat. It needs a new rudder and I'm interested in the material that was used. It didn't work out well in the crash so maybe not. Is the last set of numbers on the hull identification the number of the boat built in the series? thanks, Tim Barnett

My dad's too old to use his NW21. We're wondering if anyone is interested in buying it, either for use or for parts. It has been stored in a garage every winter that he's owned it, only being taken out for cruising in the Saanich Inlet just up from Victoria. One year it was not stored properly, resulting in the cracking of the centreboard casing. He had a fixed keel put on it about a decade ago, and it has been problem free in that configuration, although I wanted to mention that, as obviously some folks will only be interested in the drop-keel feature. All sails, mast and rigging have been stored inside, although with the boat, for 9 months of the year -- and the boat has rarely been used for anything except day sailing, so stuff is in very fine condition for a 40 year old boat. $1000 OBO

Great site...looking forward hearing about everyone's adventures with their boats and engaging with fellow NW21 owners; staying caught up on the news. I'm in Naples, Italy and my boat's in Florida waiting for me...but, someday we'll be back togther again.

Genteelestablishment: I found my trailer in S. Florida being sold by an ex-owner of a 21 ft Catalina. Worked fine.

Nuts.... I just wrote some notes in the wrong place.... but Stanely, the main thing is to advise you about going up to Pacific Marine Exchange in Bellingham..... it is an absolute MUST ----- Its all stuff on an exchange basis and its like a giant (God given) boating garage sale.

And for Jody -- My ex is an alum from CMS (1962)!! circles in circles,

Hey -- I might be a little behind the curve on Stanley = "rawfish". Great! Another member in our group.

Well they made 150 of these boats so we got about 140 or so to go.
